Heads Up!

The first heady flavours of this season's garlic, in the form of scapes, is ready for harvest.

Garlic scapes are the curly tipped green shoots that grow up through the centre of the hard-neck garlic.
If left to grow the curly scape straightens and a beautiful umbel, chock full of diminutive garlic cloves, forms.
They're harvested in the fall, once cured, the pure garlic "pills" are terrific to add to your stay healthy through the winter regimen.

Garlic scapes are as versatile as garlic cloves and can be used fresh, frozen, roasted or dehydrated and processed into powder.
Try them in salads, soups, sauces, guacamole, fresh salsa, pesto, bruschetta, spreads, stir frys, pickles, chutneys and relish.
You're only limited by your imagination.
